The Cobbett Society is returning to its pre-Covid tradition of a ‘Rural Ride’ – a coach trip enlivened by Cobbett readings relevant to the journey.
The trip will be based around a journey to Romsey and visit to the town and Abbey; and a visit to the National Trust house at nearby Mottisfont.
The coach will pick up at 9:30 at Farnham Rugby Club, Monkton Lane, GU9 9ND (free parking) and at 9:45 at the coach parking in The Hart, Farnham GU9 7HE (coming from West St this is on the right hand side before the turning to Waitrose) (payable parking in the Upper Hart Long Stay Car Park). The return to Farnham will be at approximately 5pm.
The cost is £20 per person to be paid in cash on the day – apologies for the incorrect and misleading note ‘free’ opposite. For those who are not National Trust members entry to Mottisfont will be £19, payable at Mottisfont.
There are a number of places to get tea and coffee in Romsey, and lunch will be available at Mottisfont (or bring your own picnic) but these are not included in the price.
If you wish to come you must register your name(s) with committee member Robert Sykes at robasykes@yahoo.co.uk. There is a limit of 40 people and we will operate a first come first served basis if necessary. The final deadline is Monday 5th June.
